While COVID-19 caused us to pause our in-person childbirth classes and facility tours, we are excited to share that in person tours and classes are returning. Some courses are currently offered online and some in person. See the schedule below and register for courses by contacting Childbirth Services at 901-545-8449. For online classes, the participants will receive the link, meeting ID, and password the night before each online session.

Overview of Our Classes:
Our Birth Facility tours are held at select times throughout the month. Special times are available per request. During the facility tour, attendees learn about our labor and delivery services as well as our newborn center.
This is a time to learn about our Maternity Services and support programs. We encourage you to come out after your 12th week of pregnancy. During this time, we will discuss our prenatal classes and allow you to speak with representatives from Porter Leath (Prenatal & Head Start Programs), Early Success Coalition, Faith and Family Services, March of Dimes, Regional One Health Midwives, and Lactation consultants, etc. as well as sign-up for “Childbirth Education” classes and “Birth Facility” tours. In addition, there will be door prizes and snacks available. Please join us in exploring these resources.
Our prepared childbirth class is offered for expecting parents during the third trimester as a 1-day class or as a series of 1 class a week over five weeks that covers the following topics:

Our breastfeeding classes are a hands-on, interactive exploration of successful breastfeeding. In this class, we cover the benefits of breastfeeding, skin-to-skin contact, feeding cues and other helpful breastfeeding tips, as well as community resources and support.
Dynamic Dads is a training camp for dads to speak freely and learn in an environment of experienced dads, new dads and dads-to-be. With all the changes and stresses involved in being a father or becoming a father, dads will learn important coping skills and strategies to enhance their parental support and involvement.
Mommy and Me is designed for prenatal (before birth) and postnatal mothers or caregivers (infants less than 6 months old) to promote a healthy growth and development of their newborn. It is designed to guide mothers on how to care for their newborn as they strive to become a better and more effective parent. It offers a warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate atmosphere; whereby allowing mothers to freely talk and share their emotionally draining struggles and concerns. Hosted by FaithandFamily services.
This is a 2 hour class that covers newborn care, procedures, infant safety, and offers you the necessary skills and information needed to head home from the hospital with confidence. This class will provide hands-on training to participants in basic techniques of choking and CPR for infants. The CPR/Choking portion is informational only and not for certification.
This a day where NICU parents & expecting mothers can bring siblings and family to tour our maternity services, explore what happens with the new baby, play games, attend story-time, take a pic with a Doctor, and receive a bag lunch to-go. This event is sponsored by the March of Dimes.
This is a hands-on class that details infant massage which relaxes the infant, improves sleep, and assists with weight gain. It is known to improve the bond between a mother and baby which enhances infant’s emotional health. Please bring a thick blanket to lie underneath your infant. Massage oil will be provided.
**You are welcome to come before your baby is born or with your infant, ages 3-6 months of age.
This course is offered in partnership with Porter-Leath to provide an 8-week virtual parenting series. The classes help foster positive parenting skills with nurturing behaviors, promote healthy physical and emotional development, and teach appropriate role and developmental expectations. The curriculum focuses on parenting infants and toddlers.
