Xiangxia Liu, MD, PhD, is a plastic surgeon at Regional One Health. Dr. Liu earned his medical degree at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in China, where he also completed his plastic surgery residency.
Dr. Liu completed a fellowship in plastic surgery at Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital as well as plastic surgery fellowships in craniofacial surgery, burn surgery, and microsurgery at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
In his academic role, Dr. Liu is an assistant professor in the UTHSC Department of Plastic Surgery. His research has been published in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, Aging, Journal of Molecular Neuroscience and other prestigious publications, and he serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery and Chinese Journal of Microsurgery and as a reviewer for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Liu is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation and the International Society of Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation.
He is a native Mandarin/Cantonese speaker, advanced English speaker and speaks basic French. His hobbies include hiking, badminton and basketball, and he was a member of the men’s basketball team at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences.
