Jarvis D. Reed, MD is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist in Regional One Health’s medical oncology service.
Dr. Reed earned his medical degree at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He also completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship in medical oncology at UTHSC, as well as additional fellowship training at the Laboratory of Cell Biology of the National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Reed’s specialty in hematology allows him to help patients with a variety of blood disorders, including cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. As a medical oncologist, he uses medical therapies such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy in the treatment of cancer.
Dr. Reed has been caring for patients since the 1980s at West Cancer Center, and in that time has developed a reputation as a great listener who can reassure patients about their health concerns. He strives to get to know each patient as an individual so he can provide personalized care.
He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Internal Medicine, National Medical Association and Tennessee Medical Association.
He has been honored throughout his career by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, which is dedicated to improving the quality of health care. He also earned the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award, American Society of Clinical Oncology Fellow’s Award and Dean’s Scholarship at University of Tennessee.
He is published in the journal of Proceedings of the American Association for Cancer Research.
