Bradley Somer, MD is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who sees patients at Regional One Health. He specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, genitourinary cancers, breast cancer and lung cancer.
Dr. Somer earned his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania and his hematology oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center. He is board certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology.
Dr. Somer has been caring for patients at West Cancer Center since 2002 and is a currently senior partner at West Cancer Center.
He is actively involved in clinical research and frequently participates as principal investigator in research trials at West Cancer Center.
His research includes novel anti-androgen agents in pre-metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer and combination treatments in metastatic prostate cancer; novel cancer vaccines for use in prostate cancer; immune checkpoint inhibitors for bladder cancer and renal cancer; various molecular targeted therapy for bladder, renal and prostate cancer; novel combination therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer; combination of standard chemotherapy with novel immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer; and various molecular targeted agents and immune checkpoint inhibitors for colorectal, gastric, pancreas, and hepatobiliary cancers.
Dr. Somer’s research has been published in a number of prestigious medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Oncology, The Lancet Oncology, and The Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
Dr. Somer is actively involved in the local medical community. He chairs the Committee on Cancer for Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare system and has served on the board of Community Oncology Alliance. He serves on the board of the UT/West Institute for Cancer Research, and leads several strategic initiatives, major projects and committees as part of West Cancer Center.
