“One of my favorite birth scenarios is when the laboring person’s partner assists in the birth and their hands are the first to touch their new baby. It is an incredibly unifying moment for their partnership and to witness the joy and power of that moment is awe-inspiring.”
Amanda Williams, MSN, CNM is frequently inspired by her career as a Certified Nurse Midwife, which allows her to achieve her professional passion of providing empowering care for women. Amanda started her career as a counselor and medical assistant at a reproductive clinic, then spent 12 years as a registered labor & delivery nurse. She was drawn to midwifery five years ago by the chance to help meet the need for quality health care in our community.
Amanda takes personal fulfillment not only from her career, but from raising her own family. “I am a married mother of three children – a set of 12 year old twins and 8 year old boy. I also rescue pit bulls – because how can you resist – and currently own two, Lucy and Stark. We have a one year old rabbit named Quill,” she said.
“Besides a very full household, I also enjoy cosplay, tabletop roleplaying, and board games. In fact, I love it so much that I created an actual play podcast with a few other female gamers called Danger Dames.”
