Regional One Health is part of an exclusive group of Memphis-area employers. For a fifth consecutive year, The Commercial Appeal has bestowed its Top Workplaces designation to Regional One Health, one of fewer than 20 employers to receive the honor all five years it’s been awarded.
The Commercial Appeal launched the award in 2013. It is based on feedback provided by employees through a survey that includes a range of questions covering topics like work and life balance, salary, benefits, leadership and corporate culture.
“This is an excellent honor that belongs to our nearly 3,000 employees,” said Dr. Reginald W. Coopwood, MD, Regional One Health president and CEO. “It is gratifying knowing our people are passionate about their work, their co-workers and, most importantly, the patients. Our employees come to work day after day, dedicated to providing exceptional care to every patient we serve.”
The Commercial Appeal honored the 60 chosen companies at a breakfast Nov. 30. The companies run the gamut of industries, representing the best of the Bluff City.
“Our focus and No. 1 priority is to provide the best patient care,” said Sarah Colley, JD, MHA, PHR, Regional One Health senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “We do that because of our outstanding employees. It takes every one of them to make that exceptional care possible. This recognizes their own dedication to meeting that goal, which is especially meaningful.”
Regional One Health is committed to its mission to improve the health and well-being of the people it serves by providing compassionate care and exceptional services. “Your life. Our Passion.” is a line that portrays the culture and mission of Regional One Health, something employees have embraced.
“That’s not just a catch phrase,” said Tommy Willette, trauma nurse at the Regional One Health Elvis Presley Trauma Center. “You have to take ownership. That’s what sets us apart. We’re a big family.”
Among Regional One Health’s focus areas is people, specifically the employees who make the care possible. Retaining a committed and engaged workforce is vital to the organization’s success.
“Every employee impacts our success,” Dr. Coopwood said. “We believe in providing the tools necessary for employees to do their jobs effectively. If they are engaged and dedicated to their work, we believe they’ll stay with the organization, which has a long-lasting effect on our future success in providing exceptional care to Memphis.”
