Learn if Pluvicto at Regional One Health is Right for You

Our experienced team is committed to delivering comprehensive and personalized care to our patients. We are excited to offer an innovative targeted therapy for stage-4 metastatic prostate cancer: Pluvicto.

If you have PSMA-positive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (PSMA+ mCRPC) and have tried other treatments, Pluvicto treatment at Regional One Health might be right for you.

“Pluvicto isn’t a cure, but it’s an excellent option to control the cancer, reduce pain, and give the patient more time,” Dr. Bilawal Ahmed said. “It has shown to improve both life expectancy and symptoms. Patients feel better, so their quality of life is improved.”

How Does Pluvicto Work?

  • Pluvicto is a radiopharmaceutical used to treat adults with PSMA-positive mCRPC.
  • Pluvicto is not chemotherapy. Pluvicto targets a biomarker called PSMA, which is present on many prostate cancer cells and also some healthy cells.
  • Think of it in 3 steps:

    • ATTACH: Pluvicto attaches to PSMA proteins on the outside of a cell.
    • ABSORB: Then Pluvicto is absorbed into the cell.
    • ATTACK: From inside the cell, Pluvicto attacks. It releases radiation into the PSMA+ cell, damaging or destroying it with limited damage to surrounding cells.
    • Damage to healthy tissue is minimized.
  • Pluvicto isn’t a cure but can help some men live longer and slow tumor growth.

Will Pluvicto Work for You?

  • Appointments for Pluvicto treatment are by referral only.
  • Before starting treatment at Regional One Health, you will meet with a nuclear medicine doctor.
  • Our team will review your medical history and blood tests, and scans of your body will be taken.
  • These steps will help our doctors determine if Pluvicto is the right treatment for you.
